Over the past several weeks we have gotten an over abundance of rain. The rivers are swollen, our yards are soggy, and the dark dull days are depressing!
When I was a youngster storms scared me, strong winds, beating rain, and all that thunder and lightning made me hide my face and I would become very nervous about the weather. We all know what bad storms can do, we know they can destroy and sometimes take lives. In our Christian walk, we sometimes experience storms that make us feel alone and depressed. And often times storms in our life can make us feel unworthy.
Jesus told us, “fear not for I am with you always.” He tells us He loves us, and He will take care of our every need. This world doesn’t guarantee much! We can’t depend on the storms being calmed or taken away in this world. We can not look for quick fixes that ever last. Our hope, joy and the very essence of who we are depends on Jesus delivering us from these storms.
A favorite song of mine says it all:
‘Many times, Satan whispers, there is no need to try for there’s no end of sorrow, there’s no hope by and by. But I know thou art with me and tomorrow I’ll rise where the storms never darken the skies. ‘Til the storm passes over ‘til the thunder sounds no more. ‘Til the clouds roll forever from the sky. Hold me fast, let me stand, in the hollow of thy hand keep me safe ‘til the storm passes by.”
Always remember-God sends the rainbow to remind us there are sunny skies ahead. He’s with us, always protecting us, loving us and never forsaking us. No matter how many storms come your way, there is comfort in knowing that God sees us, God knows us, He knows our heart, He knows our needs. God loves us, AND THAT STORM WILL PASS BY!
