A testimony woven so eloquently you feel guilty just reading. An image being drawn so beautifully of perfection and obedience; that of a woman put together so neatly with a perfect smile and sweet spirit.
When reading Proverbs 31 it is often with a spirit of wonder. Who is this woman of noble character, more precious than jewels, an early riser, reaches out to the poor and needy, she makes everything from scratch, speaks with wisdom and loving instruction, laughs at the unknown? Where are the Cliffs Notes that specifically explain how to obtain each of these Godly Woman goals?
Is she found in the mess my three-year-old constantly creates and I am then guilty of squashing her creativity for requiring her to clean up, or possibly it’s the 10 million questions my 5-year-old asks and I haphazardly answer without fully listening or could it be in the harsh response that was given to my 12 year old when our lines of communication weren’t 100% open and let’s not forget the 13 year old whose confidence might have been subdued by that one harsh word spoken in haste or the missed edifying word to the husband that I was blessed with. The days can be long, the dinner cold, the love tanks left on empty and I look to this Proverbs 31 Woman and ask, where are you?
I find her, ladies, in the quiet moment when all walls can be let down and its just me sitting at the feet of my Savior pouring over His word as He quells my fears. This woman who fears the Lord and whom shall be praised. Lamentations 3:22-23 Reminds me “The Lord’s loving kindnesses indeed never cease, for His compassions never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness.” Jeremiah 29 whispers out in those moments of weakness that I can “Call upon Me and come and pray to Me, and I will listen to you. You will seek Me and find Me…” Our rest is not in our clean house and obedient children it is tucked away where we stand in the precious Will of our Lord.
